AWAA Steering Committee Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2010 @ Coffee to a Tea w/Sugar
Meeting was called to order at 4:30. In attendance were Nichole DeMent, Glenda Weibel, Susan Miller, Carol Anderson, and Marilyn Ullin.
There was no budget report for the month.
Nichole sent out reminder for general meeting in March with details about the group show.
Marilyn Ullin and the steering committee brainstormed fundraising projects. Marilyn Ullin mentioned that she has a radial arm cutter for loan for members needing to cut wood for a picture.
Programs
April's meeting Gary McLaughlin from the Koryu Shoto-kai Ikebana chapter, a traditional Ikebana style. The meeting will take place on the playhouse stage.
Glenda shared a flow chart that she organized from the information generated during the small group brainstorming that took place at the January general membership meeting. Many members expressed interest in a digital workshop on how to photograph artwork. The group discussed the possibility of dedicating a general meeting for an overview class about digital photography, perhaps during the May meeting.
AWAA officers, committee chairs, website manager positions will be open for elections at the May meeting.
Group Show
The Group Show will be in June, therefore there will not be a general membership for that month. Nichole attended a community partner meeting at Seattle Art Museum. She shared AWAA literature with the community partner group and also expressed AWAA membership enthusiasm for the SAM show which has provided inspiration for our group show theme of [dis] connect.
The group discussed whether to have a catalog for the group show in June. Cost, time, and other logistics need to be considered for final decision. The catalog will be discussed at the general meeting in March.
All members are welcome to attend the brewery get-together prior to the general meeting in March.
